Labelled as "Yeatman 1966 Vintage Port Bottled 1968". Identified as being Morgan 1966 from the branding on the cork. Acquired from the wine shop in the Yeatman Hotel.
Polished redwood in colour, 40% opaque. Dusty plums and violets on the nose (very different from the spirit dominating the nose when first opened). Sweet on the palate; dusty icing sugar gently flavoured with plum, star anise and a hint of cloves. Spicy but gentle in pace. A decent dose of acidity holds the balance nicely in this light to medium bodied port. The aftertaste shows a spike of heat before settling in to a long finish full of aniseed balls and sticky gob-stoppers. Gentle port, but rather tasty - ideal sipping alongside an open log fire. 86/100. Drunk 24-Jul-16. Decanted 1 hour.
