Bought from Tesco on one of their deals. I remember this being cheap. I can't remember if it was £9 or £11 a bottle.

Decanted from a fine sandy deposit with a bit of sludge. Very deep colour and opaque. Quite closed on the nose but no off notes, a sort of clean brisk smell to it. Lots of punch up front, as seems common to all 2003s, mainly black fruit and tannins, but the tannin does not obtrude. A bit blunt on the finish, but this is quibbling. A good port. I find it hard to judge the future of such wines at this stage but it seems complete. It is drinking well at the moment if you like them at this stage of development. I wonder if it will close down but I think it will truck on for many years in the same vein. Sort of middle distance port. I doubt it will survive in my cellar very long though. The Vau port is supposed to be faster maturing, I am not sure this is very evident in the ones I have tried. They seem much like any other young vintage.

86 points for me, but don't be put off by this as it is a good quaffer. And there are probably a few more points for it in the future. I have a feeling that people who like their port young and vigorous would enjoy this.
