From Quinta do Cais, produced by Jaime M Aires Lopes of Covelinhas; bottled in 1988.

Deep brown in colour with an olive green rim, 90% opaque at the centre. A huge nose of decomposing grass and bruised oranges which are lying under the tree in the sun - massively fragrant. Intense oranges on the palate with the wine and flavour being thick and intense - like chewing through a mouthful of mandarins. The intensity is reflected in the acidity of the wine which supports the amazing palate and transitions powerfully into a blood orange reduction aftertaste.

AP described the nose fairly as being of coconut. 91/100. Drunk 15-Dec-16. Decanted 1½ hour.
