2014 Quinta do Noval

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Bottled two weeks prior to tasting. A deep and youthful purple colour. Smooth and satin nose, bringing pine needles and over-ripe blueberry. Smooth and balanced on entry wih the blueberries sliding over the tongue. A touch of hollowness is probably an indication of the wine not having fully recovered from the bottle shock. A huge wave of tannin swamps the palate and then slowly fades back to allow the sweet bramble fruit to show through. The fruit is pure and lovely and leads smoothly to the aftertaste and finish of dark chocolate and bruised black cherries. This is very closed, but absolutely delicious. 92-94/100. Drunk 26-Sep-16. Pop 'n' pour.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
