Beautiful brick red colour, 60% opaque. Gentle nose of tobacco and cigar ash. Lovely mature, spiced fruit on the palate. Powerful acidity cuts through the delicious fruit and reveals almost fully integrated tannins. Rich and mature, air releases more tobacco and cigar ash. The aftertaste is dominated by the fruit but the acidity quickly cuts through this to deliver a long and lingering tobacco and cranberry finish. Very fine port which is unlikely to improve with additional time in the bottle but will likely hold for at least 5 years. 91/100. Drunk 01-Oct-16, Decanted 4 hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
