1963 Quinta do Sibio

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

From Real Vinicola. Rich and mature polished redwood in colour, 60% opaque. Rose hip syrup on the nose but slightly dirty. Nicely balanced entry with soft candied cherry fruit at first. The fruit builds up impressively, backed by powerful acidity; an interesting coffee twist appears on the late palate. The acidity is a little uncomfortable on the aftertaste, but this fades reluctantly to leave a long finish of candied cherry and coffee. Pleasant and enjoyable, but not a great Port. 87/100. Drunk 14-Oct-16. Decanted 2 hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
