1970 Taylor
Deep red with a brick tone, 70% opaque but difficult to gauge in a dark room. Very subduedon the nose with some faint strawberries and a sprinkling of coal dust. Wonderful sweet fruit on entry, with a distinctive smokey / spiced and familiar flavour of strawberries and red jelly with a perfect balance. A touch dry, but not in a bad way. Warm on the aftertaste with red licorice and cracked black pepper. A great finish. Simply delicious port! Served blind this was guessed to be Gould Campbell 1970. 93/100. Drunk 10-Nov-16. Decanted 7½ hours.
