Deep cherry red colour, 95% opaque. Muted dusty cherries on the nose, sweet and ripe smelling. Sweet fruit and immediate tannins on the palate, tannins which become more noticeable with air. Lovely fruit and still plenty of floral overtones; powerful and concentrated with huge palate presence but with balance. Active aftertaste with plenty of herbs and spices all over the cheeks and a warm glow down the throat before a very, very long black cherry and black licorice finish appears and slowly fades away. Delicious and powerful, and still decades from its peak. 90/100. Drunk 11-Nov-16. Decanted 24 hours.
