1985 Fonseca

Bought to accompany dinner at the Oxford & Cambridge Club after the Berry Brothers Port Walk on the 24 Nov 2016. Deep and dark red, even black in the right light and certainly still opaque. Deep black fruit on the nose; densely packed dark fruit on the palate. Lots of fruit, but it's wrapped in a steel cage. Powerful and full of impact. The sweet, dense fruit lingers for hours on the finish. This is such a wonderful port and will be astonishing in years to come. 95/100. Drunk 24-Nov-16. Decanted 1½ hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
