1997 Quinta do Vesuvio

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Brick red in colour, 90% opaque. Bottle stink on the nose, a taint which carries on into the palate. Stewed / baked fruit shows on the palate under the stink and is balanced with subdued tannins that dry the cheeks. Hot on the aftertaste with thin cherry juice and chewy dryness. Rather disappointing. 85/100.

Drunk at the Berry Brothers Port Walk on 24 Nov 2016.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
