1963 Dalva Golden White Colheita (bottled 2009)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Bottled 2009. Deep amber colour with a wide green rim; 30% opaque. Lovely on the nose with sweet almonds and delicate cornflowers. An amazing contrast on entry when the intensity hits with a bump, bringing a sharp and powerful pomelo acidity that balances the intensity very well. A huge aftertaste with the powerful acidity keeping the palate clean and an amazing collection of flavours ranging from nutskins to burnt sugar. 10 minutes later as the aftertaste slowly vanishes there is a lingering sense of coffee echoing round the mouth. 93/100. Drunk 30-Nov-16. Pop 'n' pour.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
