We gathered to see how the ports of five major houses from the early 80s were faring.

70% opacity, deep dark red. Rich red fruits on the nose. Rich, full, tannic, rounded. Great structure. Lovely red fruit, strawberries. My second favourite of the night.

Deep red with a rich appearance, 80% opaque. Modest nose showing some restrained fruit. Balanced entry, sweet and nicely rounded with modest fruit and lots of tannins. The fruit carries through to the mid-palate and develops some herbal nuances. Very pleasant aftertaste with herbaceous fruit and a lovely finish. This is nice port. 90/100.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

G80. Dark-red, 75% opaque. Nose of dark sweets. Dark fruited; still closed; too young.
