Labelled as "Yeatman 1991 Vintage Port", purchased from the Yeatman Hotel in June 2016. When opened, this was identified from the branded cork as Morgan 1991 vintage port.
Dark red colour, rich and warm; 90% opaque. Nosing of stewed venison and bruised plums. On the palate this is deep and rich with plenty of plum fruit backed by some austere, dry tannins that taste of burnt wood. The tannins hold for a while and then fade back a little to allow the bruised plum fruit to step forward. The aftertaste shows the acidity and a peppercorn spiciness leading the plum and purple fruit finish. Fine port that is drinking nicely today and is in no rush to be consumed.
When tasted on the evening of 22nd March, this was scored at 90 points although a full tasting note was not taken at the time. 89/100.
