1980 Warre

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Deep red and mature in appearance, opaque in the centre. Slightly musty nose, showing some subdued dusty fruit. Sweet and concentrated entry with generous fruit and a great palate presence. A dryness to the mid-palate and powerful tannins hold sway. Still very youthful. Chewy aftertaste with delicious fruit leads to a peppery, cherry liquer finish of great power. Slightly unbalanced compared to the Dow 1985. 93/100. Drunk 21-Feb-17.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
