An unknown labelled as 'possible Dow 63?' Bought from Drewatts last year. I could see this was pale in colour through the glass and it had been leaking a little thus I was not expecting much. I was very surprised when I pulled the cork to see Feuerheerd 1960, of which this is the first tasting note on TPF.

This has a beautiful mouth feel, no fruit but is saved by some good acidity and a little heat followed by a very long finish. Julian would say it should have been drunk 30+ years ago, and he is not wrong but slightly chilled this is a very pleasant and an unexpectedly good drink tonight.

That sounds to me like the perfect port!

I'm not sure how I would feel to find a bottle of presumed Dow 1963 turned out to be Feuerheerd 1960. On balance, I think I would be pleased as it's a port I've never tried. Lucky you!

I was happy, the port was very drinkable and it was something unusual, I like trying 'new' ports and it is relatively unlikely I will ever have this again. If this happens to other bottles of Dow 63 I might not be so happy!
