80% opacity, dark, dark red. Muted nose, dark fruits. Tannic in the mouth, young, good fruit. I guessed V95.

From Churchill. Deep red with a medium rim and an opque centre. Delicious nose, full of sweet fruit - everything you would want in a port reaching early maturity. An impression of dirty fruit on the palate, lots of tannin and lots of powerful acidity. The texture is slightly chalky with the tannins fine grained and giving a youthful and big mouthful of concentrated bramble fruit. Lots of flower perfume fragrance on the late palate leads to a massive aftertaste and a big, black chocolate and black licorice finish. This is a huge port that needs more time. Served blind this was guessed to be Fonseca 1992. 90/100. 09-Aug-17. Decanted 12½ hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
