1976 Graham Malvedos

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Drunk at the SQVP Night Tasting.

Mid red colour, mature appearance; 50% opaque. Slightly medicinal nose bringing licorice and tobacco. Mid-weight entry, soft fruit followed by powerful acidity and a lot of peppercorn heat. The fruit is mature and slightly leathery with tannins that are very dry. Gentle heat warms the aftertaste which is otherwise a little hollow until a little red licorice shows on the finish. This is a port which is dry and unbalanced. Served blind was guessed to be Bomfim 1984. 84/100. Drunk 07-Sep-17. Decanted 14 hours
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
