1998 Fonseca Guimaraens

Post by benread »

A bottle that has been in my ‘cellar’ for 5 years or so. Always stored on its side.

The cork was completely dried out. It disintegrated and the bottom 1/3 ended up in the bottle. The sediment was very leaf like.

The port itself is good. Just beginning to show the slightest element of translucence. You could say it is bang on schedule for drinking in 2019. But it is actually drinking well now. Fruity. A reasonable finish. Not overly complex but easily worth keeping another 10-15 year’s perhaps. Or just enjoying now.
