From magnum.

On Tuesday 11th October 2017, at the Boot and Flogger we held the long-planned much-procrastinated Gould Campbell vertical, its final and most splendid organiser being IDJ.

40% opacity, red-brown. Nose of red fruit and marzipan (almonds). Rich, nice balance and structure, cranberries. very nice. This magnum was much more evolved than the GC80 bottle alongside. This was the first GC80 magnum I have tasted - the bottle size showed consistent evolution with other bottles I have had so perhaps the magnum was displaying the more unexpected evolution.

Mature, light appearance; 30% opaque and attractive. Much lighter than the bottle tasted alongside. Virtually nothing on the nose; lots of swirling coaxes out some tobacco. Jelly babies dominate the palate with a light and watery texture; the redcurrant grows on the late palate to give a satisfying set of flavours. Big and delicious aftertaste but the finish fades quickly to a low level of redcurrant. This is modest port, gentle and elegant but slightly too sweet to be good. 84/100. Decanted 5 hours.

GC80 (magnum): bright red, 30% opaque. Hot; light; slightly oxidised. Nonetheless soft charming drinking.
