60% opacity, dark red, cloudy. Slightly lighter weight, lively red fruit, good acidity. Quick to the finish, a little simple and one-dimensional.

Deep red with a modestly mature appearance; 80% opaque. Slightly younger looking than the 1985 shown alongside. A bit simple on the nose, delivering a smell of bubble gum. The bubble gum dominates the entry, sweet but simple. Some tannins show on the mid-palate but the whole impression is one of a pleasant but simple port. A pleasant, lingering finish of licorice that is also slightly woody. 85/100. Decanted 5 hours.

GC83: dark dark dark red, 90% opaque. No nose. Unbalanced — lots of acidity.
