On Thursday 19th October 2017 a small emergency was held at the Boot & Flogger, with five attendees. The theme was ‘Mature V.P. or L.B.V.’, blind, and both types showed beautifully.

W84 LBV, labelled JDAW, decanted 3pm, in a proper decanter. Pink, and 30% opaque. Palate of soft bright maraschino cherries. Very long and chewy. Not merely good Port, genuinely excellent port.

Voted five points, so overall third-equal.

And, doff hat, perfectly guessed by Mike.

Glad this showed well - I opened one recently which was good but not great at D+2, and after 24hr had degraded significantly to poor.

30% opacity, red-brown. Fresh nose, mature fruits, slight candy and some caramels. Mid weight, balanced, dry red fruit. Cherries. Very nice port.
