Lovely burnished red mahogany colour, 50% opaque. A touch of spirit on the nose, mixed with sweet tobacco and golden sultanas. Modest entry with a nice texture; lots of acidity attacks the tongue but under that is the sweet tobacco and cedar wood of a port in its tertiary phase of life. Spicy and quite peppery on the late palate, but always quite sweet. Aggressive aftertaste showing lots of heat and a very long finish of cedar wood and aniseed balls. Enjoyable port, but now losing its fruit and becoming purely tertiary. 87/100. Drunk 14-May-17. Decanted 2 hours.
