Served on TAP. A 50ml miniature bottle served in business class onboard the flight from LGW to OPO. Deep maroon in colour with a slightly muddy-brown hint to the edge; narrow rim and opaque at the centre. Sweet blackcurrant on the nose, ripe and rounded with some lovely overtones of esteva. Slightly harsh entry with the acidity at the fore and some baked elements to the flavour profile. The acidity dominates the palate with the baked fruit being somewhat overwhelmed. Patience on the palate allows the fruit to emerge but the balance is wrong. The aftertaste is slightly woody and hot from the acidity and alcohol; this fades and allows a very woody finish to emerge which eventually develops into a bitter burnt-sugar and harsh blackcurrant finish has a lot of green-wood persistence. Either the miniature format or the storage of these bottles has adversely affected the port as it should be better than this. 79/100. 19-Jun-17. Pop 'n' pour.
