Drunk at the Graham's Lodge at the end of a tour of the new visitors centre. Ex-cellars.
Deep red, opaque with a narrow rim. Attractive and fresh redcurrant fruit on the nose with a pleasant sweet undertone. Sweet entry with some fruit trying to come through but oddly hollow on the mid-palate. Ripe tannins grip firmly — so firmly that the fruit struggles to come through. The dryly tannis yet sweetly fruity blackcurrant comes through on the finish with a delicious counter-point from the dry blackcurrant skin tannins. Dense and deeply flavoured this is a great port that gives the impression it is shutting down (or perhaps recovering from being shut down). 91/100. 20-Jun-17.
