1917 Sandeman

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Drunk at the Factory House on the occasion of The Port Forum's 10th Anniversary dinner.

Light brown in colour. Rather oxidised on the nose, smelling more like sherry than Port. Despite this, lovely and sweet on entry, full of brown sugar. Generous levels of acidity keep the palate alive and fresh and lead to a delicious coffee essence on the late palate. The coffee continues onto the aftertaste and fades only slowly to deliver a wonderful lingering orange concentrate finish. A very pleasant showing. 90/100. 21-Jun-17. Decanted 3½ hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
