1983 Ramos Pinto (Touriga Nacional)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

This bottle was the single varietal Touriga Nacional.

A good colour, quite red still. Bramble fruit on the nose, but the nose is fresher and less pronounced than the Barroca sample tasted first. The port has a wonderful texture, smooth and perfectly poised. Lots of bramble fruit on the palate, a touch of tannin and a delicious and delicate lavender. Beautiful on the palate but lacking a little acidity to be a good port if unblended. Quite delicious, but very sweet. Not Rated. 23-Jun-17. Decanted 5½ hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
