Drunk at lunch at the Ramos Pinto Lodge.

Deep red, mature looking but only modest bricking; opaque in the centre. Beefy nose, with malt and fruit. Silky texture with some of the beefy notes from the nose also showing on the palate. Lots of deep fruit shows on the mid-palate with soft tannins and a delightful freshness. There is lots of sweet fruit, but perhaps lacking a little acidity for the sweetness. Dry and gentle tannins show on the aftertaste, some heat on the finish before a long burnt fruit takes over. This is a nice port, in a good place between youth and maturity. 91/100. 23-Jun-17.
