2000 Offley

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

By the glass from the Boot & Flogger. Deep red, quite youthful with an opaque centre. Slight stink on the nose with quite a lot of alcohol showing. On the palate the stink shows through as a dirty tone to the fruit. Very hot and peppery on the palate with modest tannins providing some dry grip. Bitter cherry and juniper dominate the palate, taking a long time to settle down to a bitter licorice. Bitter aftertaste, like biting into an unpeeled grapefruit, and a very very long finish. Still not attractive and in need of much more time to settle down. 84/100. 21-Sep-17.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
