Base of neck fill. A lovely brick red colour, glwoing in its purity, 50% opaque. Dusty bruised raspberries on the nose, sweet and with a delicious peppercorn spicing things up. The spice comes through on the palate, which is sweet yet with enough acidity to keep the sweetness in check. A lovely thick texture develops to the peppery raspberry jelly with all the ingredients combining together to give a very interesting palate. Some heat shows on the aftertaste before the peppercorn and sweet redcurrant finish grabs hold and lasts for a good few minutes. Lovely port, balanced and at the peak of its maturity plateau. 91/100. 01-Oct-17. Decanted 2 hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
