Mid-deep red, a most satisfactory colour. I took no note on the nose, but loved the mouthfeel: huge long sticky red sugar. A slightly junior Fonseca, almost. And I’m having another bottle next weekend: hurray!

4½ hours decanted. One of the deeper colours on the table out of the non-heavyweights, dark but with a transparent centre. A tiny hint of Eucalyptus over an attractive smell of over-ripe blackberries. Sweet in the midpalate and initially this sweetness is all that you can taste. Holding in the wine in your mouth allows the complexity to come through - and it was surprisingly good considering the lack of anything initially. Length is good and complex. This was another port that just kept improving in the glass. Spot on its drinking window at the moment. 6/5 or 93/100.
