2015 Cockburn

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

A note distilled from an extended 4 day tasting allowing the wine to develop and show some of its hidden aspects.

Ripe and poised fruit all over the nose. Initially slightly sour bramble but sweet black cherry by the end of day 4. Soft and gentle tannins hidden away by the fruit but strong acidity. Some prettiness and perfumed components to the wine, but this has more depth to it than most ports from this vintage. Floral and rather regal. 87-89.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
