1977 Fonseca

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

From the 2017 Berry Brothers Port Walk.

Much darker than the Graham 1977 tasted alongside this port, 30% opaque. Fresh cherry juice on the nose, mature but still showing only early signs of mature spiciness with slightly dusty tannins. Delicious on the palate, smooth and round and still showing some fruit of youth. A huge mouthful with just so much fruit! An amazing palate. There is some heat on the aftertaste before the balanced and sanguine fruit finish takes over. This is a fabulous port. 97/100 23-Nov-17.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
