1994 Quarles Harris

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

From the 2017 Berry Brothers Port Walk.

Very dark red with hints of brick, 80% opaque. A wonderful nose full of sweet fruit — blackcurrants mainly. Sweet and fruity impact, initially jammy and lacking structure but the tannins and acidity correct this on the mid-palate. The mid and late palate have a nice fragrance with dry cocoa tannins supporting the rich and ripe fruit. The aftertaste is hot with the alcohol protruding, but this settles quickly to a chewy dark chocolate and sweet bramble finish of good length. 89/100. 23-Nov-17.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
