An ‘Eights’ tasting, to be the second or fourth digit of the vintage, arranged by Tony, who provided many of the bottles including an 1867. And Alex provided Graham 1897.

F48. Dark red, 40% opaque. Unctuous, rich and soft. Lighter than perfect, but delicious and lovely. Early evening I preferred this to the T48, slightly, but within an hour the Fonseca was the junior of the two.

35% opacity, red brown, cloudy with sediment. Smooth entry then quick to a hot finish, hints of strawberry, sweetness. Some acidity and sharpness but overall a bit flabby.
