2016 Messias Cachao

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

From Messias, tasted alongside the full blend. Cask sample. Not quite transparent at the core. Nosing of soft baked blackcurrant biscuits. Delicious entry with plenty of acidity, generous amounts of fruit and terrific tannins that together have a lovely balance. A good, chewy aftertaste and blackcurrant finish of good length. This is a much better wine than the full blend. 89-91.

Tasted 12 September 2018.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

MsC16 Deep ruby red with inky black core. Sweet, fruity, smooth. Softer than the main Messias, Not as balanced. Lighter than the main release too with a shorter finish. Got better as the night went on though.
91 points.
