2016 Quinta de Roriz

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Another wine from the 2016 vintage that is dark and opaque. More fragrant and elevated on the nose than most others at this tasting, sweet and fresh. Smooth on the palate with the fruit fresh and well rounded. Plenty of tannins showing against the typical Roriz minerality. Fresh and pleasant across the whole of the palate with a refined aftertaste and a good, slightly chewy finish. A nice, elegant port. 87-89.

Tasted 12 September 2018.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

Rr16 Deep ruby red. Red fruit on the nose and palate. Good flavours, balance and acidity. Nice drinking, but no wow factor.

95% opacity, Very, very dark red. Dark fruit, bramble on the nose. Dry, medium-high levels of tannin, medium coarseness, sweet blackberries.
