1977 Fonseca
1977 Fonseca
40% opacity, rich red. Lively nose, red fruits. Full, rich mouthfeel, gentle heat, cranberries and strawberries. Great balance, smooth, sweet, with a long aftertaste of red fruit. Very nice! More like a ‘70 than a ‘77.

Re: 1977 Fonseca
A wonderful rich mature red colour; 60% opaque. Subdued on the nose, showing a little burnt fruit. Beautifully balanced entry full of dusty red cherry fruit. On the palate this brings some heat mixed in with the fruit, fruit which is dry and bitter at the core but very flavoursome around the core - a very fine combination of flavours and sensations. The palate is amazingly young. The aftertaste is huge, full of fruit that manages to be elegant and fresh, despite being 42 years old. A wonderful bottle of a consistently excellent Port. 93/100. 13-Feb-19. Decanted 2 hours.
Thank you Mike. A very kind and generous act.
