2016 Churchill Gricha

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

From Churchill. Deep violet colour, opaque centre. An intriguing nose of raspberry and the distinctive clean, pure spirit that Churchill and a few other use which seems to take longer to integrate than some spirits. Restrained raspberry fruit on entry with big tannins gripping the sides of the mouth, tannins with a nice greeness to them. A big grip on the aftertaste with a lovely dark chocolate and raspberry finish of great length. A young Port that will be easier to drink in the future than it is today - how nice to find a young Port with overt tannins! 87-89/100. 16-Apr-19.
Top 2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

2026: DR Very Old White, Graham Stone Terraces 2011, Quevedo Branco 1986 b.2026
