Marks & Spencer own label port, vastly over-priced at £25 but well worth a one-off purchase to try out.

Decanted off a moderate amount of fine sediment with some "grape skin" style residue mixed in there. This gave off a very strange aroma of bruised bananas while decanting, not something that I have ever encountered before. 30 minutes after decanting this was a mid-red colour with no signs of youth but certainly not elderly looking - think of a 1983 or 1985 second string port. On the nose it is fairly closed but reveals the smell of fresh capiscum and maraschino cherry. Sweet and rounded in the mouth with lovely cheery cherry juice and sweet plum. Nice acidity to give the structure and some tannins showing in the aftertaste. The aftertaste is very pleasant and of milk chocolate and lasts a good time. Very pleasant and soft port, drinking nicely at the moment. 4/3 or 86/100.

Compared to the 1991, would you say this is better or worse? (Not taking price into account.)
