1980 Smith Woodhouse

Post by winesecretary »

By the glass at the Savile Club. Still remarkably dark port, 90% opaque. The restrained nose with fruit notes promising rich weight. Which is delivered on the palate: full, thick, sweet, brambly, plummy, delicious and really quite long. Consumed 05/12/19.

Thanks for the note. I've enjoyed these previously but only have a few left and have been saving them, which appears justified based on your experience. 1980 in general is a better vintage than its reputation suggests (for port at least...)
