First bottle from an OWC of 12 obtained via the WineOwners.com platform.
Served blind at B&F on 28/1/20. Double decanted 24 hours.
Still fairly deep colour, but not black - showing some signs of development.
Spice and ripe fruit on the nose, but little age.
Lots of dark fruit on the palate. Well balanced.
Very nice - drinking quite well already.
Only three bottles present at the tasting, so I put this 3rd. Overall 2nd on the night.
1997 Gould Campbell
Re: 1997 Gould Campbell
50% opacity, dark red. Nose of chocolate and damson, violets. Lovely sweet and rich nose. Full mouthfeel, powerful fruit - damson, just slightly tart rather than ripe, plus chocolate, with tannin hanging around in the background. What I would call "chunky" port. Plenty to fill the mouth, and a richness.
I guessed V92 on account of the chocolate, and degree of evolution.
