1977 Fonseca

Post by nac »

Served blind at B&F on 28/1/20 by MPM.

Looked and smelled less developed than the comparative T85. Excellent balance and more evident development in the mouth. Very very nice...

Guessed W83.

Only three bottles present at the tasting and I put this 2nd. Overall 3rd on the night.

55% opacity, dull red. Christmas cake nose, lively, with a spiritous edge. Rich, full mouthfeel, plums, slight bitterness in the finish, which isn't detrimental. As I tend to find with many '77s, this had quite a funky nose. Not the finest bottle of F77, this was certainly some distance below what F77 can be.
