NV Churchill Tawny 20YO (bottled 2019)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Churchill 20YO tawny, 50cl bottle filled in 2019. Bottle was sealed with a t-stopper that was leaking slightly.

A deep amber colour, rich and polished, 60% opaque. A lovely fresh toffee apple, sweet caramelised and with nice apple acidity. Light and balanced entry, plenty of acidity keeps the palate fresh with a lovely mix of orange zest and red apple fruit. Honey and lemon aftertaste and a very good complex finish of clover honey and citrus zest. This is a very enjoyable tawny Port, well worth a glass or two if you encounter it. 89/100. Drunk 15-Jun-2020. Decanted 1 hour.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
