1940 Kopke White Colheita (bottled 2020)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

A 2cl sample bottle filled 2020. 50% Malvasia Fina, 25% Viosinho, 25% Codega. Presented side by side with the 1940 Colheita.

Olive green rim, 30% opaque. Lovely nutty nose with a touch of balsamic showing. Not as thick in texture as the colheita, intense caramelised sugar with sweet fruit like dried mango and apricot. Intense finish, full of dried mango but so well balanced. A beautiful wine with more elegance and balance and less overt power than the colheita. Very long lingering finish. An extremely fine wine. 94/100. 17-Jun-20.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
