2016 Croft

From half bottle. Popped and decanted and then considered over the next 90 mins.

Very gloopy with 95% opaque red rim. Nose features mint and pear drops with a background of boiled sweets (in a good way). Chewy blackcurrant on front palate; later, aniseed balls. Spiciness fills the nostrils at the start of the finish, before fading slowly over 30 seconds to more conventional red fruits and chocolate. It changed fast in glass over time.

Far too young, but jolly drinkable - and rather better than I remember it being when tasted EP. A nice 'bonbon' that perhaps doesn't have the balance to make old bones - but I do think it will offer more in 15 years' time than it does now.

Consumed 09/07/20 (with co-taster)
