2017 Noble and Murat

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Deep red colour with a wide rim and a lovely clarity. Very expressive nose, elegant floral perfume. Balanced, quite elegant entry with the perfume on the fruit showing clearly. This elegance is suddenly overwhelmed by the power in this wine - big tannins and searing acidity. Amazing pepper heat on the aftertaste and a very long finish. This is a very impressive Vintage Port which manages to show elegance with power. The tannins provide a delicious chocolate note to the floral perfumed ripe, rounded fruit. This will be tremendous fun to watch as it develops over its long lifetime. One to recommend. 93/100. Tasted 10-Apr-21.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
