1977 Quinta do Cachão

1977 Quinta do Cachão: Nosing lightly of red fruit, and also of sugar. Brown sugar, said somebody. A hint of green. A little heat in the mouth, with length—though the later taste predominantly sticky. 6-5, or thereabouts.

Later in the evening had acquired a pleasant mint smell.

JL: “more unfocussed than the Niepoort†.

Very satisfactory quaffing port. Nothing remarkable or great, but fine drinking. My second experience of Cachão, the other (1970) being similar. Will buy if cheap. Please don’t bid against me.

Question: do Cachão and Messias have grapes in common, or just the vinification facilities?
Question: how is “Cachão† correctly pronounced?
