1958 Noval

A really handsome bottling by Avery, complete with the name BRISTOL embossed on the glass, gold foil capsule and wholly intact label. Had an 'end of an era' feel about it - I'm preserving the bottle.
Contents were less impressive however - a good example of a 'tertiary' wine, with the evident decay of the fruit on both nose and palate.
The wine has quite a dark golden red-brown colour, and was probably glorious twenty years ago.
Still drinkable, but nothing special now.

Tom,
I did this for the first time on Friday to load up the pictures of the Cockburn '67 following some instructions that Alan gave me. It is quite straightforward and worth a try.
Shout if you need a step-by-step guide based on my experience a few days ago.

So not worth $300? I just saw a bottle for sale, and would have pulled the trigger had I not come across this lone TPF note. Thoughts?

Noval not yet in its bad phase, but ’58 was seen at the time as a light serviceable vintage with no long life ahead of it, and the passage of time has not greatly modified that consensus.

Maybe worth it if it is the Nacional, not if it's the regular blend.
