Bottled in 2007. Unfiltered

• decant +0:
Hardly any crust, a tiny amount of lumpy stuff stuck to the bottom of the bottle. Nothing came out at decanting.
Very dark, almost black opaque with dark red rim.
Lots of alcohol on the nose, which makes it difficult to smell anything else. Next to cherries, orange, black pepper and dark chocolate, there's some sulphur on the nose!
Again very hot in the mouth, but I can detect some really nice red fruits behind the wall of alcohol.
Somewhat bitter aftertaste but with a huge amount of tannins! Almost like eating unripe grapes! I'm sure this Port could do with some decanter time. There is deffinitely potential, so we'll see...
• decant +1:
Significant improvement after one hour in the decanter.
The alcohol is blowing off and leaves a nice medium sweet palette of cherries, dark chocolate, plums, fresh figs.
A nose of cherries, plums, gooseberries and fresh green leaf (in a pleasant way). The sulphur has disappeared.
The bitterness in the aftertaste is also gone and leaves a surprisingly long aftertaste of young green grapes and cherries.
There is quite a big amount of tannins.
• decant +2:
Marzipan has come into the nose ánd the palette.

• decant +24:
Much more mellow than on day one because most of the alcohol has blown off. Still a nice palette, although the red fruits are mostly gone and what's left is cherries, milkchocolate, coffee and marzipan. Still a nice Port, but better on day one.

A lovely full bodied LBV if drunk on the first day. Allow at least 2 - 3 hours decanting time.
