1995 Warre traditional LBV
One of the scarce few bottles I managed to buy from Asda's crazy £5 sale in April 2007. The other six are safely locked away in a mine in Wiltshire.
Decanted off a disappointingly small amount of fine sediment. Deep red in colour, pretty much opaque in the centre. Smells strongly of blackcurrants and a streak of mint. A little thin in texture in the mouth but full of fruit flavours. Still soft tannins in the wine and with a softly acid structure that complements the fruit nicely. A good, raisiny aftertaste that lasts a long time.
This is a very decent LBV, but is going to be even better in 5-10 years. I need to try and leave the other 6 bottles alone until their 21st birthday. Then they will be exquisite.
2 hours in the decanter. Drunk 2/5/08. 90/100.
